"Why go out and hunt for links when you can INSPIRE others to give them to you without asking, begging, pleading, or paying? Why continue to buy, borrow, beg, and barter when you can instil lasting loyalty and leverage through long living link baited link love!"

Googlejuice, googlejuice, googlejuice!

Googlejuice is not a form of magic but a term used to describe the characteristics that lead to websites appearing in the top results of Google searches. Another term is Googlebombing, where sites use underhand tactics in an attempt to gain high listings.

We say win friends and influence people! Capture good links to your site through hard-work and well thought out link strategies and generate enough Googlejuice to help your site rise up in the search engines.

If you would like to learn more about increasing the number of links to your site, please get in touch and our team of link building specialists can offer guidance on a link building campaign to squeeze some juice from Google.

Here are 8 Creative Linking Tips to help get your juices flowing:

  1. Use networks you already have. If you know people within your industry, (trade bodies etc.) go further than asking for a link to your page from theirs and vice versa - ask if they'd like some content or facts. Ask people you meet at industry conferences if they'd link to your site and follow it up. Real world interaction, works too.
  2. Recruit bloggers. Bloggers have broken out of the geeky mould and are now more mainstream than ever before. Research blogs about your industry and contact bloggers to offer them content or ask them to review your product or service and link to your site. You could even pose a question to a blogger or a forum and then provide a link back to your site.
  3. Link your own blog to others and if you have a blog then treat it like a website and optimise the content and submit it to blog directories like Google Blog Search.
  4. Do something sensational (but not evil). In traditional media, perhaps all publicity (even bad) is good publicity, but online this is dangerous. Form a campaign, hold an online charity auction or give away freebies. Think viral.
  5. Three dimensional links. Consider adding links to your site from Flickr photos, MySpace pages or even YouTube videos. Make sure any digital media item is not overly commercial, but instead is educational, humorous or attention-grabbing enough for people to feel compulsion to link to it.
  6. Flattery. Gather a list of gurus in your industry and contact them to let them know how much you admire them (they may link back to you or thank you if you're lucky).
  7. Powerful press releases. Use online newswires and industry news sites. You could even take this a stage further and use analytics or email registrations to track who's accessing your articles. You could then offer these users exclusive news or content.
  8. Frequently answer questions. Google and Yahoo! are among many sites that have answer services. Research this and search for questions relating to your industry and offer friendly advice with a link back to your site.

Remember - you should also carry out a traditional link building campaign as well as thinking about new ways of building links. This includes ensuring that your site has a links page and is listed in as many free and paid directories as possible. It's also worth researching niche directories in your industry, trade publications, newspapers and websites within your geographic location.

Does all of this sound like a full time job? It is! Link building should be an ongoing process and become an integrated part of your overriding marketing policy. Utilising the services of an agency such as us will help you lay the groundwork, but no-one knows your industry or can network in the online world better that you!
