A survey carried out by SciVisum in November found more than half of Brits who shop online buy holidays and men are less likely to buy holidays online than women. |
A belated happy new year to you all! Hope you enjoyed the holidays and are all glad to be back at work. I am, if only for a short reprieve from revelry! Apart from partying, I did manage to fit in a few films and read a few books. One film was "The Holiday" and although I was on one myself, I couldn't help but notice how the Internet was a catalyst for the story and uncovered some secrets of searching on the WWW. The film may influence how people search in future as it highlights tactics used by "clever searchers". |

Imagine sitting in a club or pub and being able to text the DJ a request for a song, a "shout out", Valentine's message, vote for the best looking person in the bar or give commentary on a live football game via a text wall. That's just what we've been working on here at MediaCo with Text to Screen. If you are thinking about promotions, especially for events like Valentines Day then Text to Screen could provide the answer. Easy to install and manage, you could soon see your customers (or staff!) sending anonymous valentxts and earning you money. The software is provided free of charge during the first two months, so could save you money too! Just like sending a Valentines Card, the beauty of text lies in the ability to communicate more discreetly. Especially good for those shy-types like me! Contact

The law previously only covered documents in print such as business letters, order forms, cheques and official publications etc. it is now being extended to all electronic documents or any of the company's web sites. According to a Canadian study into IT and behaviour, Internet users might judge your site in 50 milliseconds and these judgments will last much longer due to the psychological "halo effect". It's worthwhile taking heed of this to make your website attractive. (Nature.com, 13/01/06) |
Is your website a 50 millisecond wonder? As well as the year's run of fun-filled books in my stockings, such as the highly entertaining Smash Hits flashback to the 80s, at Christmas, I also received an interesting book called "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell. It got me thinking about how people judge results on Google with a blink and a click. It's all about first impressions. Although a cliché, first impressions really do count - just as much to the online world as in the real world. Have you formed a judgement about me from my Smash Hits reference? I wonder. |
